Vanessa Campos is the Councilor for District 1 in the city of Reading.

Councilor Campos is a long-time city resident who passionately served our city’s youth in the Reading School District as a leader and educator for over a decade. She is a former alumni of Reading Area Community College and began her career as the lead teacher in a local city preschool. She graduated from Kutztown University with Summa Cum Laude honors for her Bachelor’s in Education degree. She continued to complete her Master’s in Education with a Magna Cum Laude.

In the Reading School District, Councilor Vanessa Campos led the schoolwide team-building committee and served the reading department as chairperson. She strived for academic excellence across multiple grade levels and actively supported teachers with data analysis and interventions. Under her leadership, Vanessa mentored student interns with the tools necessary to teach inner-city youth and engage families. In addition, she led extra-curricular activities to enrich and expand the skill set of our students.

Councilor Campos continues to invest in the educational leaders of tomorrow as an Adjunct Instructor for English Language Learners in her alma mater, RACC. Her passion dedication to public service is evident in her professional background. She is a leader and avid servant of her city– dedicated to improving the lives of our youth and families. Beyond council chambers, Councilor Campos serves her community as a licensed real estate agent for our Reading families and catechist teacher in her local church.

As current councilor, Ms. Campos obtains the education necessary to fulfill her role by successfully completing voluntary courses in local government and budget. She invests her time in securing strong relationships with local departments, boards, and officials directly aligned with city goals while maintaining open communication with constituents. To further demonstrate her dedication, Councilor Campos is an active board member of Reading’s Recreation Commission, Redevelopment Authority, and Nominations & Appointments Committee.  Councilor Campos continues to expand her political capacity as an executive board member of the Berks County Democratic Committee and the Greater Reading PAC.
